The bakehouse was formed by two lifelong friends, Anne Andrus and Emily Ackerman, who grew up baking by their mothers’ sides in rural Minnesota kitchens. Anne left home to study baking at the San Francisco Baking Institute, while Emily developed her creative talents at several Minneapolis-based advertising agencies. Together, their diversified skills form the bread and butter behind the bakehouse.
